The Fairtrade Foundation awards the FAIRTRADE mark to products as a guarantee that producers in developing countries have received a fair deal.
In order to put the FAIRTRADE mark onto a product, producers and companies must comply with the standards and terms of trade set by the international Fairtrade system. These include social and environmental standards for the producers, as well as an agreed price structure and trading rules for companies.

This Merlot is a charming ruby-red coloured wine with delicate red fruit. Spicy and smoky and fairly full, the tannins are firm and lend structure to its rich fruit. Soft and plummy with good balance and a confident finish.

The wine is a deepish purple tinged red. On the nose there are appealing berry and savoury characters whilst the mouth is packed with rich, robust fruit. The style is vigorous, almost rustic, with ripe cherries, blackcurrants and green pepper predominant. The tannins are gentle but supportive and the outcome entirely satisfactory.

Sauvignon Blanc, Stellar 2007

This is a nice grassy, gooseberry-tinged Sauvignon. The nose is appealingly fruity, and in the mouth there's good acidity with a bit of zing. There's some soft ripeness on the finish (hints of acacia/winegums) so we think this addition will be a popular success: a simple, straightforward and clean dry white.
