This charmer is made from specially selected grapes, grown biodynamically in the Col di Manza, where the painter Titian, inspired by the beauty of the place, bought an ancient house. Vinified using the charmat method, it?s classified as an ?extra dry? Prosecco (but don?t be fooled ? this category is less dry than ?Brut?). It's pale straw in colour with floral aromas and flavours of ripe apple and citrus. The overall effect is harmonious, fairly rich and rewarding. Best as an aperitif or with white meats, or pasta with delicate sauces. Grape varieties: Prosecco The best Prosecco tends to have lower yields and is sourced from hillside sites in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene district.
My two favourites had considerably more personality than the other proseccos I tasted. One of them, Col di Manza, is quite sweet, but it?s a mature honeyed style with real intensity. Tim Atkin, THE OBSERVER 11 Nov 07 11.5%
