Whereas Perlage's Merlot del Piave (number 171) is vinified in the traditional Italian manner, the Terra Viva has been made in a more direct and modern style, with the UK market in mind. This has been largely achieved with the use of cold skin soaking and cooler fermentation to maximise both colour and fruit components. It displays vibrant fresh plums, red cherry and jammy fruit on the nose with plum jam, blackcurrant and bramble flavours in the mouth. It's well-balanced with powdery tannin, some acidity and a rounded fruity finish. Screwcap closure!
