Clos refers to an enclosed vineyard - in this case a wood-fringed 8 hectare parcel of long fallow land which represented the first addition to the estate, in which the Saurels later built the family home. The estate name Montirius is derived from the contraction of the names of their three children - Manon, Justine, and Marius. This is a slightly fuller, more concentrated wine than their other Vacqueyras. Syrah predominates in the blend here, lending characteristic depth of flavour, spicy notes, and distinct potential for aging.
