With a nose of plums and spice and a certain earthiness with notes of liquorice, cloves, leather and oak, this Shiraz is a delicious, well-balanced wine. The palate is soft and juicy, though the structure is robust. In many ways this wine is quite old-fashioned ? ripe, but not super ripe, it has fragrance and elegance, yet its origins are obvious ? this is clearly a sumptuous McLaren Vale Shiraz. Grape varieties: Shiraz/Viognier 15% Youthful but generous. Full ripe fruit. Nice balance and rich texture. THE WORLD's BEST WINES 2006 Rich, focused and generous with its blueberry and plum fruit, shaded with hints of espresso and spice. Fills the mouth with gorgeous flavours and lets them ride through the long finish over fine grained tannins. Drink now through 2014. (91 points) THE WINE SPECTATOR Oct 2006.
