From San Polo de Piave in the heart of the Trevisio countryside, inland from Venice, comes this rather gentle, understated Pinot Grigio. The vineyards are in a natural depression 4 metres below the surrounding farmlands ? offering plentiful water and richer soils. The wine is a strong yellow straw colour and the bouquet unmistable and immediate with hints of acacia flowers. On the palate it's dry, on the one hand fairly full-bodied yet delicately flavoured, and notably well-balanced. The latest appealing addition to our growing Italian range from master wine-maker Carlo Volpi.
