 Cantine Volpi

Background
Cantine Volpi is a family enterprise, traceable to Cristina Cairo, wife of Giovanni Volpi, who ran a trattoria in the Piedmontese town of Tortona at the turn of the century. In 1914, her sons Pippo and Secondo opened a wine-bar and shop, and 'Cantine Volpi' was born. Pippo's son Giovanni was soon involved, then his nephew, Carlo Volpi - the current company President.  Background

The estate
After years of experience in producing wine with other people's grapes, in the 1980's Bruno and Carlo Volpi decided to take more control of the vineyards, acquiring the best properties available in the Colli Tortonesi, to guarantee the winery grapes of particular origin and high quality. The result is a "domaine" of 64 acres, mostly planted with Cortese and Barbera grapes, where Volpi obtains the raw material for his main products.

Cantine Volpi's wine-making premises are located in Viguzzolo, just outside Tortona. Here the grapes are transformed with the utmost care, the temperature of fermentation and each single stage in the production being carefully controlled.

Organic philosophy
Cantine Volpi is actively engaged in conscientious agricultural practices, with an energetic commitment to a less polluted world. Carlo's approach to wine-making is highly scientific, with meticulous controls at every stage of the process. Carlo wants to ensure that high quality grapes are transformed into high quality wines!

Carlo is a warm and generous man who believes passionately in developing strong connections with business partners and customers alike.

Married to Laura, with two children, Marco (1992) and Chiara (1996), he is an enthusiastic family man who loves to go skiing or walking in the nearby Alps. When at home the Volpis love entertaining, and good wine is plentifully available!
