Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec Huet
With its shallow, stony soil Huet regard this is possibly the greatest of all Vouvray vineyards, and that stony aspect finds its way into the wine by way of pronounced minerality. It drinks well when comparatively young but will age happily for a few more years if allowed. Vivid honey soaked melon and pear notes, complex spice such as cloves and nutmeg, and notes of fennel and almond on the finish. It’s mildly off-dry but there’s so much texture you’ll find a lovely feel of richness too. Quite a mouthful.
