In 1969 the Caligiore family bought Finca la Marolina vineyard in Mendoza’s Lujan de Cuyo region, close to the foothills of the Andes and in sight of its snowy peaks. Malbec had been planted there since 1930 and for some years the grapes were sold to local wineries until 3rd generation Gustavo took control in 2011, establishing his own winery 2 years later.
Vineyard size 21 hectares. Organic since 2004.

Barrel Selection Blend, Caligiore
As the name suggests, this superb wine is only made from the finest barrels of the four varietals that make up the blend. A deep ruby colour, its powerful structure is beautifully held in check by melting tannins and ripe acidity, and the concentration is most impressive. You’ll find aspects of smoke, cedar and tobacco among the vivid red and dark berried fruit, and there’s a neat vein of spice running through the wine. Quite a favourite of ours.
