Domaine Pierre André
An architect by training, Jacqueline André is now the warm heart and soul of this family vineyard in Courthezon. The Andrés had grown grapes and vegetables for several generations, but it was her father Pierre (whose name the label still bears) who made wine-making feasible by buying 14 hectares in 1940. The winery and cellars are in the middle of the village, the vineyards around its perimeters.
Vineyard size 16 hectares. Organic since 1980.

Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc AC, Pierre André
An intense and serious dry white from the Rhône, with a golden colour and fresh herbaceous style. Made from old vine Bourboulenc and Clairette grapes, carefully blended with younger Roussanne and white Grenache – all planted in lighter, sandier soils.
The Andrés’ white wine is bottled (unfiltered) in the spring.
Exhibiting complex fruit characters this is a wine of considerable finesse and sophistication, which is drinking at its best currently.
