We first met Jacques Frelin In Paris in 1987 and this pioneer of the French organic wine movement has been our most important supplier almost from that moment. Originally from the Vendée region he worked initially with his now ex-wife at Domaine de Clairac, then with Louis Andrieu and Olivier Azan. He now runs the operation single-handedly but with the backing of his old friend Frédéric Lachaux.
Organic vineyards represented – 40 hectares. Organic since 1983.

Côteaux de Languedoc AC, Causse d’Arboras
A rather special wine from an extraordinary and breathtaking location. The vineyards are on a high limestone plateau at the foot of Mont Saint-Baudille, overlooking the medieval village of Arboras, and enjoying a panoramic view of the entire Hérault Valley, as far as the Mediterranean. This altitude, combined with the continental influence of Larzac, offers a very long maturation cycle, which makes it possible to synchronize the sugar content of the grapes with optimal maturity in terms of colour, tannins and aromas. Unusually the vines are very closely planted. This generates competition between the vines, which thus produce low yields, all rich and concentrated. An elegant, well-balanced wine with concentrated aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and prune with a touch of liquorice. Well-rounded with elegant tannins and poise. Great with pizza, tapas, grilled food or a cheeseboard.
