The ‘Grande Maison’ is a fortified house constructed by the English during the 100 Years War. Thierry Després retired recently and Jean-Louis and his son Benjamin Chabrol have taken over these lovingly restored vineyards where they are keen to continue working in the same organic way. Their range includes delicious Monbazillacs: truly elegant and deserving sweet wines.
Vineyard size 14.5 hectares. Organic since 1993.

‘Cuvée Opera’ AC, Grande Maison
Bergerac produces Bordeaux style wines using the same grape varieties and is geographically a continuation of Côtes de Castillon. This elegant and skilfully assembled wine from Thierry Despres is light to medium-bodied with an orientation towards berry fruit flavours. Hand picked grapes and 9 months barrique aging have created an attractive wine with good length.
