Description
Highland Harvest Blended Malt Whisky
A blend of 3 grain whiskies (highland, island and Speyside) with a highland malt, matured together in Scotland for 4 years.
Distilled using natural barley and yeast, much as whisky was made a hundred years ago.
There’s an assumption that all whisky is organic when the reality is that modern farming techniques, including use of chemical fertilizers, are employed in the creation of key raw materials such as barley and maize.
This is a keenly priced organic whisky whose producer says ‘We have chosen a blend instead of a single malt because we believe that in relatively young whiskies this produces a superior range of flavours’.
A smooth whisky with refined bursts of flavour. It is blended to please the palate, offering a creamy finish.
“It was only a matter of time before whisky joined the organic train. Soft and sweet with light notes of pine and light fruit, green melon, vanilla and (in time) allspice and fresh oak – gentle. On the palate that allspice kicks in again: very spicy, creamy and tingling with good feel. Flavours carry well on from the nose. Soft. the finish is clean and refreshing. A well put together blend – worth a look.” Dave Broom – WINE INTERNATIONAL Nov 2005
