Hux, Davenport Vineyard
A simply delightful summery white, made from the exceptional 2018 harvest: 100% Huxelrebe with a subtle botrytis character. At 12% alcohol it’s retained some unfermented sugar so is an off-dry style. It has flavours of apricot and stone fruit with a honeyed background; very clean and fruit-driven and similar to a Riesling in balance. Only 500 bottles were made – Will says he may never be able to make a wine like this again. With time in the bottle it should mature over 3 – 4 years as the flavours mellow and the sweetness becomes more apparent. The label incorporates the fingerprints of the vineyard team who had a hand in its production.
