Merlot-Cabernet-Refosco ‘Era’ No Sulphur Added
The newest member of our growing no sulphur added team is also our first wine from Venezia-Giulia, a wine region in the north-eastern corner of Italy, close to southern Austria and Slovenia. It’s an intense ruby red in colour, with soft berry fruit on the palate. When it’s young, ripe fruit dominates with the Refosco’s typical overtones of blackberries and blueberries. As it ages, Cabernet’s force comes through with its grassy notes, along with lightly toasted flavours from aging in large oak barrels. Try it with slightly piquant pasta dishes, mature cheeses or even hearty fish stews.
