Monastrell Barricado Baica Jumilla

£9.99

While Spain’s most famous regions receives much of the praise for country’s wine output places like Jumilla – dismissed by some as being ‘too hot to make decent wine’ – quietly got on with what they do best, which, despite the warm climate… is making decent wine. Here’s a great example of this – it’s a full-bodied red, crammed with spicy black fruit and leather notes, yet it’s beautifully smooth with no hard edges in sight. 6 months in French and American oak adds complexity and a lovely but gentle note of vanilla. Definitely one that tastes better with some hearty food, and it can take a little chilli heat too.
