Domaine des Cinq Autels started the production of cider in 1984. Previously, the company’s organic agricultural production was led by Maurice Pitrou, the father of Jean René. In 1967, Maurice Pitrou realized the harmful effects of using fertilizer products and decided to change its methods into an organic way of production. They have continued the organic practice to produce high-quality products in the most eco-friendly and healthy way. Today, 30 years later, they are still as convinced by this choice and are making ciders (and cognac!) with the same passion.

Calvados VSOP, Domaine de Cinq Autels
This is a fine and hearty apple brandy from the edge of the Pays d’Auge, which is south-east of Caen.
The estate has been in organic production since 1965 (when I was still in short trousers)!
Using a blend of fifteen ancient varieties (Normandy cooking, dessert and cider apples) Jean Domaine des Cinq Autels produces high quality Calvados VSOP. It has a minimum aging process of 5 years.
The ageing takes place in large oak barrels. Giving rise to a naturally deep amber colour, softly oaky flavour and a firm, well-balanced style. As a result is is typically rich and has a lingering apple character.
Delicious as an aperitif, digestive, or as a versatile ingredient in sweet and savoury cuisine.
