Garnacha Blanco ‘Symphony’ NSA, Bodegas Tempore
Garnacha Blanca (Grenache Blanc in France) has only in recent years been encouraged to express itself via single variety wines of significant quality, especially in southern France and north-eastern Spain.
In Catalunya, Rioja and in this case Bajo Aragón, wine-makers have been crafting rich, floral wines with distinct minerality and the relatively high alcohol content typical of this grape.
Tempore’s example, from re-envigorated old vineyards high up (700m) in the desolate Sierra de Arcos, is a treat and a welcome addition to our small range of no sulphur added whites. Enticingly golden in colour, lees aging for four months has brought ‘Symphony’ great depth of flavour: honey, soft citrus and fleshy stone fruit, as well as some herbal notes.
