Bodegas Robles
Founded in 1927 by Antonio José Robles, and now run by Francisco, his grandson, Bodegas Robles produce a delicious range of sherry-style wines using the same ‘solera’ method used in Jerez. All the wines, ranging from the elegant and bone dry Fino to the luscious nectar-like sweet PX are made using the Pedro Ximenez grape grown on the local white soil ‘Albarizo’.
Vineyard size 32 hectares. Organic since 1999.

Description
PX ‘Piedra Luenga’ DO, Bodegas Robles
The PX is an award-winning sweetie, that’s dark mahogany in colour and full, fruity and lasting in the mouth.
The already ripe grapes are dried on esparto grass mats in the hot Andalucian sun until they reach the optimum level of sweetness (at which point they are almost raisins) — and then crushed.
The aromas are captivating and evocative of sun-ripened fruits, and dried figs.
In the mouth there are delicious raisiny/caramel flavours that border on the tropical. Opening the bottle doesn’t affect the lifespan of this wine – except that you won’t be able to resist it! Drink on its own as a Mediterranean pick-me-up, as a dessert wine or with blue cheese.
