Grande Maison
The ‘Grande Maison’ is a fortified house constructed by the English during the 100 Years War. Thierry Després retired recently and Jean-Louis and his son Benjamin Chabrol have taken over these lovingly restored vineyards where they are keen to continue working in the same organic way. Their range includes delicious Monbazillacs: truly elegant and deserving sweet wines.
Vineyard size 14.5 hectares. Organic since 1993.

Description
Monbazillac ‘Cuvée des Anges’ AC, Grande Maison 37.5cl
Situated near the town of Bergerac east of Bordeaux is Monbazillac.
While Monbazillac is one of the world’s greatest dessert wine growing areas it is often underrated. This is due to the unfair comparison with its wealthy cousin Sauterne. Consequently Monbazillac can stand on its own as far as quality is concerned.
A recent vintage of an esteemed appellation that shows no immaturity and only a hint of youthfulness. A lusciously rich dessert wine with poise, complexity and good length. In vinification the accent has been placed on preservation of its fruit aromas.
