Stefan Sander worked in vineyards around the world before settling back into the family estate. His grandfather brought organic viticulture to the vineyards (and winery) in the 50s after noticing how his wife’s MS condition improved after he stopped using chemical fertilisers and started gardening organically. Stefan has now moved towards biodynamics. His wines are clean and expressive, perfect for ‘German doubters’.
Vineyard size 25 hectares. Organic since 1982.

Riesling Loessterrassen, Sander
This wine is a step-up from our hugely popular dry Riesling. The vines are on loess (wind-blown soil) terraces with a lime subsoil: a unique combination which gives the wines fruit elements as well as mineral terroir characteristics. Vinification includes 24 hours of skin contact followed by slow fermentation with natural yeast. After five months on the lees the wine is bottled. This is an elegant light wine with peach, green apple and ripe citrus aromas and flavours, as well as notable minerality. It’s a bone dry wine with a gentle hint of sweetness on the finish.
