Luis Manuel Carcar was born in the early 1960s in Andosilla. A 4th generation vigneron with an estate in the Ega valley, we’ve sold his lovely wines since the first organic vintage. In 2005 the cellars of the bodega were enlarged and ‘Luisma’ is now able to release aged, vintage wines. Previously, older vintages had to be sold to make room for new. The estate has made a name for itself with its benchmark mellow reds.

Rioja Gran Reserva DO, Bagordi
A wine like this is the outcome of much thought and planning which begins with selection of the best grapes from the most favoured vineyards. Then comes careful production and the ‘crianza’ process of storing the wine for 24 months in French oak barrels, followed by at least 36 months in bottle. The result is a classical Rioja wine that is both well-rounded and elegant.
It’s an elegant medium to full-bodied, cherry red wine, very full and complex in flavour.
There are hints of red fruit, nuts and cocoa and delicate vanilla undertones with hints of balsamic and spices.
It’s well-rounded and structured with sweet tannins, and a lingering presence of fruit, notwithstanding its age.
All of this blends well with the refined notes of French oak, roasted coffee and chocolate.
