The Spinolas, one of Europe’s oldest families, are traceable to the 9th century. Massimiliana Spinola took over the estate (and castle!) on the death of her father and immediately applied bio-dynamic methods. Her partner Henry is a Londoner with a passion for working with heavy horses and they are gradually moving towards working all their land this way. Vineyard size 20 hectares. Organic since 2009.

Behind this 100% Barbera is Henry Finzi-Constantine, a student of anthropology and the works of Rudolf Steiner (biodynamics) and more recently the introduction of heavy horses in the vineyards of which this wine is named after. On the nose you’ll find wild dark berries and cherries, the palate is warm, soft, round and balanced, simply delicious!
